Rosewater, or rose hydrosol or rose hydrolat as it is also referred to, is used throughout the world, for its healing properties.
Mind
Anti-depressant, soothing, calming; when used as an aromatherapy or taken as a tonic in water.
Body:
Skincare, eyecare, sore throats, acne, eczema, sunburn, for shiny hair; when used topically, neat or mixed with other ingredients.
There is information aplenty on the internet about rosewater’s use in therapy and well-being, here are a couple of extracts:
Suzanne Catty (USA) internationally recognized as one of the modern pioneers in holistic health and aromatherapy reports: “Rose Hydrosol is mildly astringent and acts as a humectant (attracts moisture) thus being helpful for many skin types including dry, fragile, sensitive and ageing skin”.
She recommends Rose Hydrosol for those with environmental or chemical sensitivities. Emotionally and spiritually, Catty mentions that Rose Hydrosol “promotes balance, aids emotional processing, and supports you in decision making and the completion of projects.”

Rosewater is used in Ayurvedic medicine for calming pitta. “Pitta governs all heat, metabolism and transformation in the mind and body. It controls how we digest foods, how we metabolize our sensory perceptions, and how we discriminate between right and wrong.”
